Frequently Asked Questions
❋ What happens during the initial consultation?
The initial consultation takes place online. It is an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to therapy, discuss what you're hoping to gain from the process, and consider whether working together feels right for both of us. You are welcome to ask any questions about therapy, my approach, or how sessions work.
❋ What happens if we decide to work together?
If we decide to continue, we'll arrange regular sessions and agree a way of working that supports your needs and goals. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
❋ Do I need to know exactly what I want to talk about before starting therapy?
No. Many people come to therapy with a general sense that something doesn't feel quite right, even if they can't fully explain why. Therapy provides a space to explore these experiences and gain greater clarity and understanding over time.
❋ How long are sessions?
Sessions online typically last 50 minutes or up to 1 hour outdoors.
❋ What are your fees?
The initial online consultation fee is £50.
Individual counselling sessions are £60 for online and £70 for walking therapy.
❋ What is Gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is a relational and experiential approach that focuses on increasing awareness of your thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour.
Together, we explore what is happening in the present moment while considering how past experiences may be influencing your life today. This increased awareness can create opportunities for meaningful and lasting change.
❋ What is walking therapy?
Walking therapy combines traditional counselling with gentle movement outdoors.
Some people find it easier to reflect and express themselves while walking side by side rather than sitting face to face. Being in nature can also support relaxation, grounding and emotional processing.
❋ Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. I offer online counselling via a secure video platform. Online therapy provides flexibility and allows you to access support from a familiar and comfortable environment.
❋ What is a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)?
A Highly Sensitive Person is someone who processes experiences deeply and may be more affected by sensory, emotional or social stimuli.
Being highly sensitive is not a flaw or diagnosis. It is a personality trait that can bring strengths such as empathy, creativity and intuition, while also creating challenges when the world feels overwhelming.
A session typically centres on present moment awareness, exploring thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations to support insight and growth.
❋ How often should I attend therapy?
This depends on your individual needs and goals.
Many clients attend weekly sessions, particularly at the beginning of therapy, while others prefer fortnightly appointments. We can discuss what feels most suitable for you.
❋ Is everything I share confidential?
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of the therapeutic relationship.
Everything discussed in our sessions remains confidential except in rare circumstances where there may be a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or where I am legally required to disclose information. This would always be discussed with you wherever possible.
❋ How do I know if we're the right fit?
Finding the right therapist is important.
The initial online consultation gives us an opportunity to explore your needs, ask questions and see whether working together feels right for both of us.
